This wasn't the first time I've seen a vampire bat in Colombia though. When Nikki, BC, and I were in San Gil, we went to Cueva Indio which has 3 kinds of bats, fruit bats, insect bats, and vampire bats. Don't have any pictures of the bats, but here's a couple shots of us exploring the cave.Monday, May 4, 2009
A Strange Moth and The Caves
Yesterday Pilar's daughter Carolina invited us over for homemade pizza for dinner. During dinner, I was telling them about my recent taxi accident, when another gigantic moth flew in the room. I ducked like I always do and everybody laughed at me because, hey, it's just a moth Reid. Well I had gotten a good look at this one, and nope, definitely not a moth. It was a vampire bat that had committed a boner by flying into the house! Eventually it landed on the floor, but I couldn't find a camera before Julio corrected the bat's boner by covering it with a towel and then throwing it out the window. Next time.

Is this a different cave than the one you explored with Juan Pablo? What's the purpose of the vests?
different cave. also this time was with a hired tour guide instead of Juan Pablo's friend Oscar.
The vests are life jackets, which we had to wear b/c there was some swimming at the very end to get out of the cafe. They were pretty useless.
Thanks for the clarification. :-)
