Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language Exam Results

Apologize in advance, this will be a boring post...

I completed the Intermediate level DELE exam today. It has 5 parts: Reading Comprehension, Writing, Listening Comprehension, Oral Presentation, and Grammar/Vocabulary.

I did very well on the first 4 parts, which was expected. My favorite part was writing, because the prompt was "Tell us a story about something funny that happened to you." Obviously I have told a lot of people the "I shat myself" story, so it was very easy for me to write that story. For my oral presentation, I talked about different forms of gambling like poker, roulette, the lottery, and black jack, and what the benefits and risks of gambling as an industry are.

Unfortunately, I may have failed the Grammar & Vocabulary section, which was the section I expected to give me the most trouble. To pass I needed to get 42/60 multiple choice questions correct. In the 8 practice exams I did, I fluctuated between 40-52/60, and this time I'm pretty sure I was closer to the 40 end of the spectrum.

The thing that makes the Grammar & Vocab section so tough for me is that since the test is from an organization based in Madrid, it has idioms, expressions, and vocabulary that you only really hear in Spain. Que pena.

Anyhow, I should get my test results in about 3 months. If I didn't pass, I plan to take it again in November, because I know my Spanish is good enough to pass this test.
