The North American culture section in ESL textbooks

I *think* I have 2 jobs right now at 2 different English schools. I say think because I've substitute taught 2 classes in one of the schools, and I'm "observing" classes at the other school, but neither school has told me how much they're going to pay me yet, or what my regular teaching schedule is going to be.

Anyway, the above is a picture from the North American culture section of an ESL textbook. The answer section in the back helpfully explains that while the young woman would not be required to have sex with the young man, he would "certainly expect some physical intimacy if she accepts his offer." Hooray culture!

On a related note, I wanted to tell somebody I was excited to go see Machu Pichu with some friends. The verb for "to excite" in Spanish is "excitar" and the literal translation for "I am excited" would be "estoy excitado." Turns out "estoy excitado" actually means "I'm horny." That one went over well.
