La Boda en Bogota and Colombian Hoops

Went to Bogota this weekend for my cousin Diana Patricia’s wedding (above x2). It was a really small wedding at a tiny, but beautiful church up on a mountaintop near Bogota.

A bunch of my Colombian family was in town for the wedding (above). From left to right in the back we have me, Jaime Andres (brother of the bride, speaks German, English, and Spanish and lives in Germany), Jaime Nino (father of the bride, my grandpa’s nephew), and Julian (my cousin and Sergio’s brother). On the floor is Sergio, who lives in Bucaramanga and was a finalist on a Colombian version of Beauty and the Geek.

Before Bogota: Evidently Colombians can't be bothered to play full court for pick-up games, so they just play half court 4 on 4. Even when there got to be like 20 ppl there playing, we kept playing half court 4 on 4, first team to 5 wins gets to keep playing and losers sit out. Also, if the ball doesn't hit the rim on a shot (which is frequent with players this terrible) or there's a turnover, the defense doesn't have to "take it back." I more or less dominated which was kind of funny. Funnier though, is that Juan Pablo's friend Silvia told me the guys waiting to play next were saying "The gringo must be from America." and "imagine if he was black!" after we won a couple games in a row.

The next day, Silvia told me that one of the guys at the court wants to hire me to give him private basketball lessons. This is amazing.
