Colombians think it’s hilarious and a little sad that I use cabs all the time. A normal cab ride runs about $1.60; an LONG one is about $2.50. The bus is a mere $0.60. Apparently I’m pampering myself.
Of course, cabs don’t have the great atmosphere (read: upholstery) that buses do (see photo). But then again, when you take a cab you can be pretty sure you’re going to end up where you want to go. For example, today I tried to take the bus home from school. I didn’t get lost per se, but if I was to describe a Cville equivalent I tried to take the bus from the airport to the Corner, and ended up getting dropped off Barrack's Road Shopping Center, after a quick trip to Culpeper. The right direction (eventually), but kind wish I’d splurged the extra $1.00 to go door-to-door.

Your Aunt Natalia would make you a bus pro, for the difference in price. Riding the bus is her thing. So keep trying and enjoy the "sense of adventure."
We enjoyed riding the cable and trolley cars in SF. Hope your sense of direction will get better, even by taking the cabs...
Love ya...Grandma S.
