Today was a national holiday in Colombia. What great day in Colombian history was being celebrated you might ask? A reasonable question, with no reasonable answer I could find. So far as I can tell, it's a holiday because the national beauty pageant is tonight (live from Cartagena!) and since everything was going to close early anyway so people could watch the pageant, the government just made it a holiday. Welcome to Colombia, where 3-day wkends seem to outnumber normal weekends!

I enjoyed reading your blog. I am also here in Bmanga, but am able to live only 1/2 year at a time in Colombia for the moment. I gather that you are from Virginia? That's where I live when not in Colombia.
Anyway, I recognized some of the places in your photos, and will try to continue to follow your blog to remind me of the place I love so much, while away in the States. Take care.
