Comments:
I’ve been searching far and wide for Colombian drinking games to bring home to the United States, but it seems the Colombians would rather dance and eat lollipops (I’m not kidding) than develop competitive drinking games. However, my cousin Lee has come through in the clutch, and has introduced me to an authentic Colombian drinking game that they play on the coast. It is played with a Coca (pictured left, a gift from Lee) and the objective is to get the wooden ball part to land on the stick. There is some scoring system involved of course, but I don’t know it yet. Don’t worry, Knoll and I will investigate thoroughly.
Also pictured is a shot glass necklace, which is a pretty brilliant/dangerous invention. Nobody tell Nikki about this idea. This kind of shot glass is supposedly popular at Carnival so that the drinking doesn't slow down the dancing, and it's used for a Colombian liquor called aguardiente, which literally means "burning water." It tastes kind of like Jager, so I try to avoid it.
Spanish Idioms:
Lee also taught me a Spanish idiom today, “Las canas son ganas” which translates roughly to “People with gray hair are sexy.” So I’ve got that one in my back pocket now.
